If you work in local SEO, you know that fighting spam on Google My Business is an ongoing battle. This is especially true if you work in the following sectors:
Unfortunately, the fact that your business name contains keywords is a significant ranking factor. For example, I searched for " emergency plumber Los Angeles , " and here are the top three rankings for Google My Business listings in the Maps pack:
The first result (24 HR Emergency Plumber Los Angeles Inc) is a solicitation website, which violates Google My Business Guidelines. The second result also appears to be a solicitation website. And the third? You guessed it, it's another solicitation ad, without even a website!
These companies sell leads to real plumbers at an inflated price. Clicking "Show all" to view all listings doesn't yield a genuine plumber until the tenth result! Aside from completely fake listings that should be removed, some competitors stuff their name with keywords in Google My Business.
The first checklist doesn't need to be done frequently, but it brother cell Phone list would be helpful to complete it at least once. If your ranking tracking is correctly set up for Google Maps, you'll likely just need to pay attention to your ranking on the map. If you lose a position for an important keyword, which listing is now ahead of you? If it's a new listing, skip to checklist #2.
Open a Google Doc, give it a suitable name, and put your documentation there. Each entry should have its own Google Doc. The more detail you can provide in the document, the better. For more detail, you can add screenshots, external links with descriptions, and so on.
